Red, White and Blue

Instead of a cake we went with Red, White and Blue sundaes.  Vanilla ice cream with fresh strawberries and blueberries with a whipped cream finish topped with a fresh raspberry. Healthy - except the ice cream maybe - great for summer and a tribute to the Independence Day Holiday coming on Monday!

Today was the last day for Tran and Van at least as far as this blogger is concerned. With a week's vacation coming up they will be gone upon return so this was also a goodbye treat for them.

There was some distraction, however. Today was the quarter final for Ghana vs. Uruguay in the World Cup. The Princess was a wreck!!  Others could not tear themselves away from the computer screen with all of Africa's hopes riding on Ghana only to be dashed by penalty kicks. What's up with that anyway?  How about a sudden death playoff or something like that. The whole game falls upon the goaltender and face it, that's a pretty big goal to defend when someone is taking and unblocked shot right at you.  This part of World Cup play clearly needs to be rethought. But Africa is out but so is Brazil!  The most vocal proponent for that team - who was away - is sure to hear about that unexpected result. As the Dutch would say..."de grootste verassing in de heele wereld!"  Dutch is a weird language!
